Watermelons r DANGERous ??

Just received an email today stating the above.

Here's the content:

WATERMELON IS DANGEROUS?

This is because the watermelon planters put Furadan, a powerful insecticide (a poison), into the soil before planting the watermelon to kill and keep away insects, especially ants. Experts confirm that Furadan is active for one whole year (12 months), and is most powerful and effective during the first 90 days. The problem is this: The watermelons mature and are picked after 55 days, when the Furadan is still powerful, and a lot of it is INSIDE THE WATERMELONS! Meaning the watermelon is filled with poison!Furadan especially DAMAGES THE KIDNEYS the organs which have to filter pollution from the blood!

What do you think? True or false?
I would love to hear comments from you- especially those who are working in agricultural & chemical line. TQ

Have a sweet day..dare to eat watermelon again?? LOL!

PaPaYa

Received this email from a friend and would like to share it and benefit all my readers.

Papaya

Who doesnt know what is a papaya? I'm sure everyone knows.

Papaya was the only studied food found to halt breast cancer

Scientists studied 14 plant foods commonly consumed in Mexico to determine their ability to halt breast cancer cell growth. These included avocado, black sapote, fuava, mango, prickly pear cactus (nopal), pineapple, grapes, tomato, and papaya. They also evaluated beta-carotene, total plant phenolics, and gallic acid contents and antioxidant capacity. They found that only papaya had a significant effect on stopping breast cancer cell growth. (International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition, May)

Papaya is a store-house of cancer fighting lycopene

The intense orangey-pink color of papaya means it is chock full of cancer fighting carotenoids. Not only beta carotene, but lycopene is found in abundance. The construction of lycopene makes it highly reactive toward oxygen and free radicals.

Scientists at the University of Illinois think this anti-oxidant activity contributes to its effectiveness as a cancer fighting agent. Epidemiological studies have indicated an inverse relationship between lycopene intake and prostate cancer risk. They showed that oral lycopene is highly bioavailable, accumulates in prostate tissue, and is localized in the nucleus of prostate epithelial cells.

In addition to antioxidant activity, other experiments have indicated that lycopene induces cancer cell death, anti-metastatic activity, and the up-regulation of protective enzymes. Phase I and II studies have established the safety of lycopene supplementation. (Cancer Letter, October 8, 2008)

Prostate cancer was the subject of a study in Australia that looked at 130 prostate cancer patients and 274 hospitalized controls. The scientists found that men who consumed the most lycopene-rich fruits and vegetables such as papaya were 82% less likely to have prostate cancer. In this study, green tea also exerted a powerful anti-cancer effect. When lycopene-rich foods were consumed with green tea, the combination was even more effective, an outcome the researchers credited to their synergy. (Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2007)

Isothiocyanates found in papaya restore the cell cycle to eliminate cancer

Organo-sulfur compounds called isothiocyanates are found in papaya. In animal experiments, isothiocyanates protected against cancers of the breast, lung, colon pancreas, and prostate, as well as leukemia, and they have the potential to prevent cancer in humans. Isothiocyanates have shown themselves capable of inhibiting both the formation and development of cancer cells through multiple pathways and mechanisms. (International Journal of Oncology), October, 2008)

Researchers in Japan clarified the mechanisms of action in a type of isothiocyanate found in papaya known as BITC, that underlies the relationship between cell cycle regulation and appropriate cell death. When cancerouscells die on schedule, they are no longer a problem. The researchers established that BITC exerted cancer cell killing effects that were greater in the proliferating cells than in the quiescent cells. Cancer cells that are proliferating are much more dangerous than cancer cells that are in a state of dormancy. (Forum of Nutrition, 2009)

Enzymes from papaya digest proteins including those that protect tumors

The fruit and other parts of the papaya tree, also known as the paw paw tree, contain papain and chymopapain, powerful proteolytic enzymes that facilitate chemical reactions in the body. They promote digestion by helping to break down proteins from food into amino acids that can be recombined to produce protein useable by humans. Proteolytic enzymes protect the body from inflammation and help heal burns. They do a good job of digesting unwanted scar tissue both on the skin and under its surface.

Research has shown that the physical and mental health of people is highly dependent on their ability to produce proteins they can use effectively. However, as people age, they produce less of the enzymes needed to effectively digest proteins from food and free needed amino acids. They are left with excessive amounts of undigested protein which can lead to overgrowth of unwanted bacteria in the intestinal tract, and a lack of available amino acids.

Eating papaya after a meal promotes digestion, and helps prevent bloating, gas production, and indigestion. It is quite helpful after antibiotic use to replenish friendly intestinal bacteria that were the casualties in the war against the unwanted bacteria. When the intestinal tract is well populated with friendly bacteria, the immune system is strengthened, and can better protect against flu and cancer.

Being a proteolytic enzyme, papain is able to destroy intestinal parasites, which are composed mostly of protein. To rid the body of intestinal parasites, half a cup of papaya juice can be alternated each hour for twelve consecutive hours with the same amount of cucumber or green bean juice.

Papaya contains fibrin, another useful compound not readily found in the plant kingdom. Fibrin reduces the risk of blood clots and improves the quality of blood cells, optimizing the ability of blood to flow through the circulatory system. Fibrin is also important in preventing strokes. Proteolytic enzymes containing fibrin are a good idea for long plane rides to minimize the potential of blood clots in the legs. People who sit at a desk all day might want to use proteolytic enzymes too.

Proteolytic enzymes are able to digest and destroy the defense shields of viruses, tumors, allergens, yeasts, and various forms of fungus. Once the shield is destroyed, tumors and invading organisms are extremely vulnerable and easily taken care of by the immune system.

Undigested proteins can penetrate the gut and wind up in the bloodstream where they are treated by the immune system as invaders. If too many undigested proteins are floating around, the immune system becomes overburdened and unable to attend to the other tasks it was meant to do. Proteolytic enzymes can digest these rogue proteins, freeing up the immune system.

Let's ensure a slice of papaya every day in our diet. Papaya juice will be great too!

p.s I've also heard of evidence that papaya leave made into i teaspoon of bitter juice helps to raise platelets in haemorrhagic dengue. Have not tried it personally. Any comments on this? Could anyone share the scientific evidence references please?

Dad's spirit is coming back to his home tmrw night?

Dad's "Wooi Wan" (return of his spirit) is tomorrow night about 8pm.

Is he really coming back spiritually? How do we really knw? Are there any signs or indication? What should we do? We really miss him but deep inside I'm sure we are all afraid , too. Was told that all of us(initially when I thought I would be there , too)have to hide in the room, cannot even come out to go toilet till the next morning. Since hubby will be working late outstation, I have the excuse not to join them.

I cannot join my mum & siblings since I need to care for his 4 grandkids here. Their boisterous behaviour would surely scare their Ah Kong away if his spirit is really returning tomorrow.

Anyone of you have these encounters about Wooi Wan? Please share with me.

Thks.

a Fly joke!

How to tell the gender of a Fly

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

"Hunting Flies" He responded.

"Oh. Killed any?" She asked.

"Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied.

Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell?"

He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone."

Half A Day Living Like a retiree...

Today i really feel happy that my princesses didnt make any fuss when I sent them early to school today. Normally they will start with the early morning drama of "MUMMY I DONT WANT TO GO SCHOOL SO MUCH... MUMMY YOU COME EARLY AH....MUMMY HUG HUG FIRST>>KISS KISS first, etc etc..until the kindy teacher also shakes her head.
Surprisingly this morning, they woke up early, brushed their teeth, dressed up, help me hang clothes, wore their shoes themselves and went into the car without much hassle.

After sending them to nursery, I went to a petrol station to pump air for my tyres. This is the new gadget which makes it much more easier for me without using my pressure gauge

Then I drove to TESCO to do my groceries. Emmmm when I arrived there slightly passed 8am, the car park was nearly empty. There weren't many people and mostly old couples whom I presumed are retirees. Before I proceed with shopping, I entered the Post Office in Tesco to buy money order. I was the first customer there. Emmm first time in my life this happen.

Then I walked the supermarket feeling so unusual...no crowd, no waiting at long queues. on a side note, I found out that the ANTIBACTERIAL multi surface cleaner was only RM3.90 instead of between RM5-6 as I reviewed in my previous post.

Then after all the shopping, I went to TESCO's newly renovated food court (again not many people there yet)to have my breakfast. This is what I ordered:

Inhouse LOW SHI FUN Basah at the ORIENTAL stall.
Very big portion indeed but feeling so free and easy and happy, I managed to wallop the whole plate of it.

Then it was about noon and I left TESCO to go home and do some gardening & play with my pond koi fishes and keep clothes which was hung out this morning.

Once I finished my house chores, I went to fetch my princesses very much earlier than the usual 5pm. Since they were so good this morning, mommy rewarded them with SUGUS bought from TESCO to make up the total of RM85 in the shopping receipt. That's because in conjunction with TESCO birthday, there was an automatic entry contest for every shopper who spends RM85..no slogan! Yippee.Mommy just tried her luck. Hope to win again!

I'm back ...

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the long absence.

Was having some problem with my "all these while so good and faithful" maid. She betrayed our trust, went back and never returned as promised. It was such a gradual well plan drama..I felt so silly , stupid and a loser to be conned by her. Her story was damn good and managed to stole our sympathy.
The worst was my 4 kids having to settle down to a new routine of going to nursery and childcare centre fullday.

The experience with this great cheater was too traumatising for me emotionally not to mention some financial loss and fear from unpleasant sms related to that maid.

Now I have to be on unpay leave to see to the welfare of my kids and household. All these while we have been so dependant on the maid since we both work outstation. Blessing in disguise that she didnt take my youngest daughter along..the one she supposedly love very much. That's why all these while no loop holes or unpleasant discoveries. All work was done well and she was soooooo capable .

Let bygones be bygones. Just pray that there wont be any more future problem crawling in after how she cheated us and also we believed she did all that with a syndicate.

I really feel like putting her photo and details online to boycot her. My maid agency said there's nothing they can do or I can do. Even after reporting to Immigration and the Police this "cheater" can still come in to Malaysia anytime as long as she changes her name and identity and make a new pasport. I really hope she wont go on to find the next victim.

What do you think I should do? Sometimes it's so unfair. We employers can cheated and became victim to these kind of maid and yet we get penalty of RM250 by Immigration. On top of that taking a new one is so damn expensive almost RM8K. The immigration rules are also not strict enough to control the illegal immigrants.

Will find time to blog again.

Do u know how bird nest is produced? Not sure if this is true.or just a hoax to spoil the bird nest market.

Birds' nests which are just taken down are very dirty and smelly.
Nobody will think of consuming them at all if they see the condition. Now let me show you how the birds' nests are processed so that they are edible.

The workers are getting rid of the fine feathers, grass and dirt.

After getting rid of the feathers and grass, the birds' nests are cut into smaller pieces for further cleaning.

Then they are soaked in water for other smaller particles to float to the top.

Then they are soaked in a kind of bleaching agent for them to turn white.
The bleaching agent becomes cloudy after reacting.

After bleaching, hot boiling water is used to get rid of the smell of bleaching agent.
The parts of the birds' nests which cannot be bleached will be taken out.

Now it's the time to mould them into shapes

After moulding them into shapes, they are dried.

After drying them for one day and one night, the birds' nests are ready.

Malaysia and Indonesia produce at least 800-2000kg of Cao Yan and Mao Yan.

In these birds' nests, only a small amount is edible (the saliva of the bird), but they are very dirty and almost black in colour. No one would want to consume it.

So should we just waste it like that? No, there is of course a way of turning them into attractive products, which is bleaching. Some suppliers use H2O2 to get rid of the smell of second class birds nest. H2O2 is a rather poisonous chemical, and it might cause cancer.

Only some food contain small amount of SO2 and SO3 (not more than 0.00000002%) In Japan the amount of SO2 and SO3 in all sorts of food must not exceed 0.00000001.

Before this, the nutritional value in Cao Yan and Mao Yan is already very low. After processing using chemicals, the nutrient in the birds' nests is totally destroyed. Therefore, the nutritional value can be said to be lower than Pek Bok Nee... have you eaten before?

The birds' nests which are bleached have lost its original shape. So, businessmen turn these birds' nests into different kinds of shape. The most common shapes are leaf-shaped, strips and round shape. There are also those who dye the birds nest into yellow/ red colour, and cheat the unknown consumers by selling these birds' nests to them as Xue Yan/Jin Si Yan.

The nutritional value of these birds' nest is gone and totally worthless after processing them with lots of chemicals.

Do you think what was shown above is a true picture? Why people still willing to pay so much for something so harmfully processed ? Mayb gone were the days when genuine bird nest were produced.

The above was sent to me through email. I've no intention to jeopardise the bird nest manufacturers but just putting up this post for exploration of thoughts among bloggers.

Have u tried eating Jagung raw?

Hub bought back some jagung(corns) from Cameron Highlands. The initial price was RM2 each. Really big and sweet. But due to the non stop rain that morning before he and the golf kakis came back, the farmers sold it for RM10 for 8. That was a very good buy. You knowlah guys never would knw how to bargain. If not because the farmers were desperate to close the sale, i guess we wouldnt have had the chance to enjoy those sweet corns. Hub brought them back and told the maid to cut them into round pieces and to be eaten raw. Believe it or not...they were so crunchy, sweet and juicy..emmmmm wish he could have bought more.So far praise God no one complain of diarrhoea Hub also bought some giant oranges. Also very juicy and sweet. Can't wait to go to Cameron Highlands again on 10 May to enjoy a retreat with my Mind Science kakis to do a meditation cycle at the Boh plantation as we hike up. Will buy more corns and oranges then. Will blog on that in my vacationphysiomom.blogspot.com later.

mummy's convo..dont knw what to wear?

Yup, tmrw is my convo. At last ...after extending 1 extra year from the time I did my degree in Applied Rehab ( when I was pregnant with Jasmine my youngest of four kids. It really feels like AGES.

Feelng very "kan cheong" and excited. Bringing my parents and kids along for my convo to make my parents proud and my kids to look up on mummy as role model.

But dont knw what to wear. Some say better wear pants..more profesional and formal. Some say wear collar blouse, some say wear gown .!
The requirment is wear national costume.

Anyway took few suits of clothings to see which will suit the robe. What did mummies out there wear on their convo?

my maid's myterious story?? believe or not to believe?

was busy with my maid issue. She later told me that she fainted because she was robbed and hit by the robber and pengsan. she lost quite a sum of money (her own) and her handphone. Lost her passport but later managed to retrieved by the Indon police.Sounds "dramatic" but i got no choice to give her the benefit of the doubt coz she could have just runaway but she promised my youngest daughter she would come back. She loves her very much.

Anyway, she is home safely and i dont need to go through the hassle to take unpay leave and new maid and can cont to have time blogging..:)

Election is over..what's Malaysian's future???

Went to vote for 2nd time in my life on 8 March which happened to International Women's Day and Samy Vellu's birthday.

Missed previous one due to transfer. My voting area was at a nearby school. The majority who form the longest queue when I arrived were mainly senior citizens may be because this town is a retiring town for them.

Hopefully Malaysians are happy with the result announced and hope the winning parties wont let their voters down.

Poor Samy Vellu...what a birthday gift!

Check out this funny video clip which i just discovered after election day:

Any new year resolutions?

What are your new Year resolutions for 2008? Do you really carry out those resolutions each year?
Try this game:

*Start Copy Here*
When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions we seem to fall into four categories: 1) quite serious about them, 2) be flippant about them, 3) do it because we feel pressured to, or 4) do not do them.

So, the purpose of this little game is to let us know which category you are in. Copy from “*Start Copy Here*” through “*End Copy Here*” and post it. Before “*End Copy Here*” tell us who you are, your site(s) (with link) and your New Year’s Resolution, or not.

Then tag as many others as you like, from one to your entire blogroll, your choice. If you like, create an intro paragraph to your post that also acknowledges who tagged you.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS:
Juliana – Juliana’s Site - My New Year’s resolutions are looking for a part time job, keep blogging, and learn to cook and bake.

Michelle - Rusin Roundup - 1. Learn to be happier and accept myself for who I am, 2. Is to lose about 25 lbs., and 3. Is to stop smoking.

Karen - Grow Rich Along With Me - My resolution for next year is to achieve $3K per month passive income by the end of 2008.

Mel - Attitude, the Ultimate Power & Complain Complain Complain - “I don’t need no stinking resolutions.” I never hold to them anyway so why frustrate myself by starting them now.

Sandee - Comedy Plus - I don’t need no stinking resolutions either. Years and years ago I did them because everyone else did, but not once did I follow through. Why set yourself up for failure?

Lynda - lynda’s loft - My resolution is to see resolve to that which needs resolution. Like Mel and Sandee, I feel that resolutions give us more stress, however, being a person who sets goals each year, isn’t that the same thing as a resolution??? Goals vs. resolutions? Goals are more general and allow for more time to complete them, a resolution requires a mind-set and immediate action, which is not always feasible… Well, that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it…

Amelia - Amel’s Realm - This is a list of my New Year’s Resolution:1. Health: Continue exercising twice a week, eat enough veggies and fruit, have enough rest, take vitamin C regularly and women’s multivitamin during my period.2. Spiritual: Improve my Daily Bread reading routine and my prayer life and learn more from God’s Word.3. Financial: Continue to make money online (my goal is getting €100 per month at least), be more creative in writing posts, and save most of the money.4. General Life: Continue to learn Finnish AND practice it as best and often as I can, try out more baking and cooking recipes, continue to maintain and share positive thoughts, continue to learn to control my thoughts, continue to learn to catch myself before I start complaining and count my blessings instead, continue to stop and cherish all the little moments in life that oftentimes go unnoticed, and continue to feed my inner child and last but not least, continue to ENJOY my life thoroughly.

Trinity - Rooms of My Heart : My New Year’s resolutions in simple and fast way will be blog less and spend more time with my children and read more good books. I want to start studying about global warming and blog it…

Max - MAX - My New Year’s resolutions are to dedicate more time to my friends; to finally be able to read “Der Spiegel” in German; to be calm when organizing my marriage; to go one last time to my favourite club and dance the night away; and continue to be happy!

Eric - Speedcat Hollydale - I love chicken. Problem is that I really never get to have enough chicken! My New Year’s resolution is to enact “Chicken Tuesday”. On this day I will eat only chicken, blog about chicken, and promote chickens all over the world. (hormone free) Join me, won’t you?

Marzie - Mariuca & Mariuca’s Perfume Gallery - My resolution for 2008 is to enjoy a healthier lifestyle and to expand my Perfume Collection.

Sindi- Life Is A Roller Coaster - My resolution is to complain less, pray more and be a little more thankful for what I have.

Judy - Sugar Queen’s Dream - My New Year’s resolution is:To take better care of my health. To eat better, well at least 3 meals a day, I’m lucky these days if I stop for one meal a day….To help make the world a better place to live, I love the human race, but think there’s always room for change. To be generous until it hurts. To live each day as if it’s my last.To make a book of our personal family recipes and traditions for each of my 3 my children, so that the traditions and family cooking can be passed on in my family line long after I’m gone and finally…….To help more with the local Human society, Animals like little kids can not fend for themselves so it’s up to each of us to take care of our pets and to step in and care for all animals…..I hope that through me I can encourage my Children to be better adults and in turn to raise the Children they have or will have, to be good people with good, sound & solid values…. Peace!

Adrian - First Time Dad - My New Year’s Resolution for 2008 is to be a better father…now I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions because I never keep them but this one I better keep! Happy New Year to one and all!

Colin - Life - New Years Resolution? No way…Better to achieve more throughout the year rather than pander to the whims of a one day ‘wishful thought’

Mauro - 1 Million Love Messages - My resolution for next year are: 1. Change my job (maybe work online). I’m really unhappy in the actual one. 2. Dedicate more time to my family and girlfriend… maybe start to get ready for our wedding 3. Work hard in 1 Million Love Messages and reach 2500 Love messages (or more) in the end of 2008.

MidgetManOfSteel - Mental Poo - To get out of dealing with people who I have no desire in helping at the job I’m doing…catch the eye of someone who can see that I can write and be funny…and get my own ticket to happiness from my humor….and a Ferrari. While I’m doing this, I resolve to get a Ferrari.

Stacy - My Thoughts - My New Year’s Resolution for 2008 - Is to be more understanding to my children and to other people, Not to curse at others while I am driving, try to eat right and exercise, try to volunteer in my community, and to believe more in my spiritual side.

Jason - DatCurious.com & DatMoney.com - Although, I normally don’t do New Year’s Resolutions (because I find it as an excuse to actually do something I should’ve already been doing), this year I will plan on giving back to the blogging community, especially my audience. I’m not sure how I will do it yet, but I definitely will.
