Wet & Slumber Saturday!

Today is a rather wet day with rain almost towards the evening.

Mommy has so much laundry to do & Mr.Sun was not happy to shine today. Instead Mr. RAin is happily showering us with showers of blessings.

With the cool & gloomy weather, no wonder mommy's 4 musketeers were having a slumber time...Here's the evidence:

The girls who love to sleep with exposed tummy

The twins sleeping in different places
(accompanied by their plush pets)

While they were sleeping throughout the evening till dinner time, mom happily prepared dinner for them.

Check out what mommy cook & how much she spent for the dishes & dessert, in the next post.

went Hunting for Ipoh Famous Kaya Kok....fruitful mission!

After reading some comments in a non Ipoh blogger's post (sorry cant recall who exactly..please reveal yourself)recently about how good Ipoh kaya kok is..really put me to shame. I was bred, born & multiplied here in the Pomelo & Bougainvilia City yet not knwing it's famous for puffy, fresh warmly baked Kaya Kok..besides the famous Nga choy Kai (Chicken & taugeh).

So I decided to take up the challenge to ask around. All i knew was there were a few KAYA kok stalls or shops around town ..to me they all taste "Nothing special" until finally majority of the people I asked, told me to go to this shop with the following address:
SIN ENG HEONG
No 64, Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakri (jalan Clare),
30300 Ipoh.

Elaine Ng 012-4534596 or o5-2439659

Better call to order. U may need to wait if there are not enough fresh supply on the spot.

In the shop, I saw this uncle & auntie making fresh Kaya KOK.

The pictures spoke for themselve I hope.

Besides, the shop also sells other variety of biscuits:

My goodness..the kaya kok is really puffy, warm & nice (though a bit too sweet for me). It's 60sen per piece. Enjoying some with my beloved hubby now in front of the idiot box (TV).

i bought 1box with 10 pieces to try & as "recess" food for my kids.

So the next time you drop by Ipoh, make sure u don't miss it. It's somewhere near the famous "LO WONG NGA CHOY KAI".

Homey Sunday!

Sunday Nov 2, 2008

We did not go anywhere on Sunday. Just stay home to help mommy & daddy with house chores.

We started our chores after breakfast:

"Mun" Egg Noodle with bittergourd & oyster sauce Chicken
&

Lobak with Thai Fried Rice

Afernoon after the heavy breakfast, mommy steamed some "COLOURFUL APOM' for us:

Ingredients:
1 packet of APOM flour
150 ml water or full cream milk or orange juice
2 Grade A eggs

Beat the egg intil smooth,
add in APOM flour and mix thouroughly.
Add the water/milk or orange juice

Once the mixture is smooth, pour out into paper cups on aluminium containers or baking utensils.

Add your favourite colourings.

Steam for about 15-20 minutes. In between the steaming period, remember to make "X" cut in the middle of the APOM .

It's that simple.

What's cooking for dinner?
Nasi Lemak Combo

(For KIDS)

(FOR MOMMY & DADDY)

Mom used pandan green paste to add a greeny tinge to the rice cooked with coconut milk. (Cant really see in the picture due to the lighting)

She then prepared the "Ayam Masak Merah" , Stir Fried Spinach (to make us eat vege again!), Fried Groundnuts, & ABC soup for the little gals who cant take spicy food.

A closed up pic of the Ayam Masak Merah

After dinner, mommy prepared our "recess pack" for school tomorrow.

Fun Learning Saturday Morning , Sexy Saturday Nite.

Saturday 1st Nov 2008

Our morning breakfast...simple but filling.

Egg Tart n Hup Tou Sou with VICO cereal for all.

After breakfast, we went to TENBY international school open day. The theme was "heart for heritage". We enjoyed to see the vintage cars & bikes, had fun watching how Pan mi was made from flour, "How to make bracelet from corn", Basket weaving, Henna tatooing, Slide shows on Figurines from vegetables, etc.
We missed the pony ride as it was too hot n too late by the time we arrive at the pony ride station.

Saturday lunch: we had Banana Leave Fried Kueh Tiao, Chee cheong Fun & Rojak (mom lazy to cook)

Then we went home and watched Mama Mia CD for the 5th time. Very nice hilarious, romantic n witty show.Love the music & songs n the story.

The girls trying to imitate the stars in the show.

Saturday Nite: Post Deepavali Treat from Host Indian Rotarians of Rotary club of Ipoh South (KRIS)

Juliana won the 1st prize for Best dressed for children's category while mommy won the 2nd prize in the Best dressed Adult category (she modified our clothings and added scarf & accessories like Putu to make us look like dressed up in SAREE or Bollywood attire instead of wasting money to buy ). truly fun and happy to win 2 hampers.

Little Jasmine rejoicing and dancing to the beat of Indian dance songs..though she didn't win anything coz mommy assured her that we could all share the hamper.
